Powell's City of Books in downtown Portland will host the book launch for A Force For Nature: Nancy Russell's Fight to Save the Columbia Gorge. The author, Bowen Blair, will be joined in conversation by Kevin Gorman, executive director of Friends of the Columbia Gorge. Blair, an attorney and senior vice president at the Trust For Public Lands, tells the gripping story of how Nancy Russell, 48 years old and with no experience in advocacy, fundraising, or politics, built a grassroots movement that overcame 70 years of failed efforts to help preserve one of the world's most scenic corridors.
